Fusaka is scheduled to activate on mainnet on December 3, 2025 at 21:49:11 UTC.
Check rest of thread for EF blog post for further details, and some highlights
Fusaka follows this year's Pectra upgrade, representing a major step forward in Ethereum's scaling roadmap that improves L1 performance, increases blob throughput, and enhances user experience.
The headliner is PeerDAS which enables significant blob throughput scaling with a sampling technique that let's nodes only download part of the blob data. This supports increasing blob counts without a corresponding increase in node requirements.
Scale without sacrificing decentralization!
There are a number of other EIPs in Fusaka that facilitate the scaling of the gas limit, and core devs have identified 60M as the current safe target.
There are also some EIPs that support much better UX like the introduction of the secp256r1 precompile. Gas optimizoors will also appreciate the inclusion of CLZ opcode.
Another important call out is the introduction of Blob Parameter Only upgrades. These upgrades are like lightweight hard forks that let core devs schedule blob parameter increases automatically.
This fork has been a big lift for everyone involved in core protocol R&D, and I'm very excited for the scalability benefits it will bring.
Ethereum continues to scale without sacrificing its core value of decentralization.
